Searcys 1847 has a very simple, yet successful, philosophy when it comes to our people. We are at the forefront of the service industry (we prefer to call it the entertainment industry) and so we need experienced teams of people to deliver fantastic experiences at each of the iconic venues that we run. The fantastic breadth and depth of venues that we operate at means each business has different people needs – we do not operate a ‘one size fits all’ policy. On the contrary.

We also believe passionately in growing our teams from within. With iconic venues to work at and very high standards to maintain, we want people who are passionate about giving consumers the best experiences imaginable. Of course, every now and then we have a need to bring in some extra expertise to strengthen the teams and help them grow further but we are fiercely proud of the fact that each team has a great deal of autonomy, encouraging pro-activity and creative business minds.

The Searcys people philosophy does not end there. Whilst there is over 160 years of tradition at Searcys, there is little that we do that could be considered ‘traditional’. We need the best people to deliver more than just food and beverage – we need them to deliver fantastic experiences. So, we do not always employ what may be perceived as traditional catering managers. We are leading edge, delivering high street style by continually looking at non-formulaic solutions to traditional recruitment issues. As consumer tastes evolve and they become more demanding, we make sure we have the right calibre of people to deliver above and beyond those expectations.

In addition, Searcys reputation has grown because we recognise the need to encourage our people to feel as much a part of our client’s organisation as they do ours. This positive approach allows for a seamless experience for end users, which ultimately benefits both them and us. And this is why we continue to win and extend contracts at existing clients.
