Richard joined Searcys in 1990, after 24 years with Lyons (Town & County) where he started his career as a Management Trainee. During his time there, Richard managed catering in restaurants, hotels, a leisure park and teashops. His last ten years there were spent directing Events and Outdoor Catering functions, which varied from the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championships, Garden Parties and State Banquets.
Having joined Searcys to head up their City catering, his role, like the Company, has grown dramatically. He was appointed Chief Executive in 1994 and since August 2006 has taken the position of Chairman following a highly successful period as Chief Executive. Richard takes great pride in being actively involved with the owners in not only the expansion of the Company, but also in appointing a young Board and Executive team. Richard has also been instrumental in ensuring that most of the senior positions in the Company have been filled via promotions awarded within the Company.
